Programme overview
Master of Science in Maritime Operations is structured over two years and comprises three semesters. The first and second semesters each consist of three core modules and one elective, with students having the option to choose their elective from two available options. The final semester, occurring in the second year, is dedicated to the completion of a Maritime Operations Research Dissertation on an approved topic of research. Additionally, the program offers four distinct ten-credit modules that students may opt to take as stand-alone micro-credentials, identified by the acronym (MC) in the program outline provided below. The program is designed to be delivered online to prospective students.
The program is structured to furnish participants with the requisite knowledge and tools for sound decision-making and leadership in onshore management roles, as well as offering support for various maritime operations such as port management, ship management, offshore energy development, aquaculture, and other marine endeavours associated with Ireland. Emphasising alignment with ESF+ priorities, the program will adopt a blended delivery approach, predominantly online, supplemented by class tutorials and networking opportunities within maritime partner company settings. It will prioritize continuous professional development (CPD), integrating skill training in leadership, analytical thinking, decision- making, negotiation, and business acumen.
