Chief Engineer for Tug
Summary
Due to a change in the personal circumstances of a member of the team, a vacancy has become available for a full time, permanent position working for Fowey Harbour Commissioners as a Chief Engineer. Working on either of their tugs – CANNIS or MORGAWR; these are Voith Tractor Tugs constructed in the early 1980s and have a Lloyds Register Classification of 100A1 Tug: Near Continental Trading Area.
The position is a 40-hour working week plus out of hours work, dependant on the tug operating schedule, and will include some weekend working. The tugs’ primary port of operation is Fowey with regular away work in Plymouth and Falmouth.
The successful candidate will need a minimum qualification as a Chief Engineer - less than 500GT and 3000kW; have appropriate STCW certification and be medically fit with an ENG1 medical certificate.
Candidates with similar qualification and experience may apply and options for obtaining the necessary qualification will be considered.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, reliable, have good communication skills and able to work in a team environment.
A competitive salary package accompanies the post and will reflect experience. Additional allowances are available in some circumstances.
