Scottish shipbuilding within living memory

Leith-Built Ships Volume 4: Robb Caledon (1965-1984

Book-Leith-Built-Ships-cover_web.jpgThe popular Leith-Built Ships series has moved into a period within the memory of many Nautilus members. The vessels featured this time include the tug Lloydsman, which was involved in the Icelandic 'cod wars', and the Falklands War hospital ship HMS Herald.

As with the previous instalments of the series, volume 4 is nicely presented, with colour pictures throughout and a glossary of terms. Anecdotes from shipbuilders and seafarers add a personal touch to the well-researched history, and the author's own despair at the closure of the Leith shipyard in 1984 makes for a powerful conclusion.
