MN Falklands veterans invited to National Memorial Arboretum service
08 February 2022

The Merchant Navy Association National has been tasked by the Royal British Legion to inform merchant seafarers and shore personnel preparing the STUFT Merchant Navy ships involved in the 1982 Falklands conflict about the large event that they are organising on Tuesday, 14 June 2022. This will be held at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA), Alrewas, Burton-on-Trent DE13 7AR to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the conflict ceasefire.
The NMA is situated off the A38 about nine miles south west of Burton-on-Trent. It is planned for about 10,000 to attend the event. Attendees will be required to make their own way there, and travel information will be issued later.
We have been requested to obtain details of guests requiring tickets, as soon as possible. The number of tickets that we will be allocated is unknown at present so we will be working on a 'First come, first served' basis.
There are further details of the event on the Royal British Legion website.
If anyone is a Falklands veteran or involved directly with the conflict who wishes to attend with a guest, please contact:

The latest consequence of shortsighted policy-making
Having read the article about UK defence on your website, I thought it was spot on about needing to secure the future of the Merchant Navy if the government wants a defence capability.
Britain's WW2 government acknowledged Merchant Navy sacrifice
As you will know, this year marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day. I enclose a copy of a transmission, sent by telegraphy in May 1945, from the Admiralty to 'all ships', expressing the victory message to the Merchant Navy, from the minister of war transport.
