Nautilus is reminding yacht crew that Barcelona has a new passport-stamping policy in place, which applies to non-EU arrivals at the port: if you don't show a Seaman's Discharge Book, you don't get a stamp.
Employment letters, contracts, and other forms of documentation will no longer be accepted as proof of seafarer status by officials. Non-EU crew arriving to join yachts in Barcelona are now subject to regular visa controls and will only be able to stamp out (onboard) on presentation of a Seaman’s Discharge Book.
The same procedure was already instituted in Palma, Mallorca, at the beginning of 2024.
Arrangements for crew members disembarking in Barcelona and entering Spanish territory remain unchanged. You must be in possession of the necessary visa to stay in or travel through Spain, as well as the economic means to support yourself during your stay. Proof of accommodation for the duration, an invitation letter, or a flight ticket are required.
