Nominations to fill spaces on the Nautilus Council must reach the head office by 1700hrs on Monday 23 November 2020.
Paid-up full members including cadets are eligible to stand in this year’s elections, which cover the following categories in the UK:
• Navigators, inc. shipmasters
• Engineers, including ETOs/Elec/RO
• Ratings
• Other particular categories, including hotel services and shore-based members
The Council is Nautilus’s governing body, tasked with ensuring that the Union is run according to the wishes of members.
It is made up of a representative group of serving members chosen by their peers. Those elected in 2021 will serve for two years (rather than the usual five-year term) following rule changes agreed in 2019.
As a representative body, 23 of the 32 places on the Council are for members of the UK branch, eight places are for members of the Netherlands branch, and one place for members of the Switzerland branch.
'Nautilus International is your union and its governing body, the council, is composed of serving seafarers and other maritime professionals, like yourself,’ said Nautilus head of organising Garry Elliott.
'I would urge members to take this opportunity to participate in the Union’s democratic procedures and shape the direction and strategy for Nautilus International in the future.'
To nominate for the Nautilus Council, log in to My Nautilus and fill in the application forms.
