The UK government has designated 5-9 July as Maritime Safety Week 2021.
The key aims of the event are to recognise excellent safety work that already goes on across the sector, focus attention on specific challenges, such as drowning prevention, facilitate the sharing of knowledge, experience and best practice; and delivering key safety messages.
Maritime Minister Robert Courts MP said: 'I urge you to seize the opportunity MSW provides to highlight the brilliant work that you all do, whatever your role, to keep those using our seas and waterways safe.
'Please do make use of social media to promote key safety messages, using the hashtags #maritimesafetyweek and #maritimesafetymatters.'
