As part of London International Shipping Week (LISW), Nautilus International is teaming up with the MNTB and UK Chamber of Shipping to host a free day-long LISW skills and careers hub.

The day will be split in to three sessions and members are invited to drop in for any session or attend for the whole day. Please register for each event listed separately.

AGENDA: This panel discussion and audience debate will cover seafarer employment and training statistics and projections, economic drivers and market forces, job creation and recruitment.

  • the seafarer perspective – a Nautilus member shares their experience of seeking work
  • the government perspective – a government representative will outline the government ambitions for the sector
  • management consultancy - David Rowlands, Frazer-Nash
  • company perspective - Bill O'Shaughnessy, Carnival UK and Ian Hampton, Northern Marine Group
  • recruitment consultancy - Greg Livermore, Seamariner

Careers surgery

As part of the Careers and Skills Hub, Nautilus will also be holding an online CV surgery and careers advice session. If you would like to submit your CV for feedback from the Nautilus professional and technical department or have a question about seeking employment or career progression, you can email it in advance to [email protected], or follow the discussion on the day from 14:30 via the Union’s FaceBook page and Twitter feed.

The Careers and Skills Hub also include a breakfast seminar on inclusivity and fair treatment, and an afternoon spotlight on maritime careers, an event for careers advisors and teachers.
